Congratulations to Chris Haynes for a strong finish at the 3A Region 1 Championships. The course was cold and slightly windy on this Saturday afternoon. The race was run on a fast course that features two climbs up a large hill with about a 20-30 degree incline for about 300 yards each climb. Chris entered the race listed as the 6th fastest runner in the region. Chris stayed with the lead pack for most of the race, dropping to about 8th place with only half a mile to go in the race. On the final climb up the large hill Chris was able to surpass three other runners putting 4-12 seconds on each runner, finishing 5th overall. Chris' time of 16:19, averaging 5:13 per mile, surpassed his time last season on the same course by 23 seconds.
